Upon looking at all the beautiful cave drawings on the Lascaux Caves website, one drawing in particular stood out to me, The Swimming Stags. I not only enjoyed The Swimming Stags, but all of the wonderful cave drawings. I really liked that the Stags were given a sense of motion. When one is looking at them it really seems as though they are swimming. I also like how the artist(s) used the different colors of the natural stone, it makes it look like waves of water. This drawing is found in The Nave section of the cave. The Nave has many different depictions of animals, including, stags, bison, and horses. The website says that most of these cave drawings are made using primitive tools and natural pigments, which I think is pretty cool since they have lasted this long. Overall I really enjoyed this art assignment and I look forward to many more.
