The Lascaux Caves website is very informative and really cool. I enjoyed being able to take a look at all of the different drawings. One drawing really stuck out to me. It is a drawing that brings up a few questions. I chose to look at the Axial Gallery which included drawings of The Panel Chinese Horses, The Panel of the falling cow, and the upside down horse. I chose the drawing of The Third Chinese Horse. The reason this drawing stuck out to me is because it looks as if the horse has wings. It made me wonder if during this time period, there was something more than just a horse. Now, if there was a such thing as a flying horse, we would probably have more evidence of it. This drawing also might just be accidentally placed where the "wing" part of the horse was not mean to be there. This particular drawing was done with black and shades of yellow. The yellow was added to show color variations in the hair of the horse.
I love your imagination! Wouldn't it be great if pegai (Plural of Pegasus) were real? It was common for generations of artists to use this cave and they would often draw over older works...but I like your idea best.
